In aviation, strong partnerships are not built solely through contracts or recruitment figures; they are built through conversations, trust, and a shared understanding of long-term objectives. Brookfield Aviation’s recent business visit to Royal Air Maroc (RAM) in March 2026 highlighted precisely this principle, reinforcing an already successful collaboration and laying the groundwork for future growth.

The visit brought together key stakeholders from both organisations, creating an opportunity to move beyond operational updates and engage in meaningful discussions around strategy, pilot recruitment, and the evolving needs of one of Africa’s leading airlines.

During the visit, Brookfield engaged with several key members of Royal Air Maroc’s leadership team, including Mrs Naoual Ait Hammou, Director of Operations; Captain Abdelmajid El Atiaoui, Vice President of Flight Operations; Captain El Mehdi Hamdoune, Director of Training and Flight Crew HR; Captain Younes Sebbata, B737 Fleet Manager and Special Advisor to Flight Operations responsible for pilot recruitment; alongside fleet managers and personnel from the Flight Operations, Training, and Human Resources departments.

Brookfield representative Quan Nguyen S.V.P. – Business Relations & Corporate Accounts also had the opportunity to meet with Brookfield pilots currently operating within RAM, including B737 and E190 Captains and First Officers, providing valuable firsthand insight into their experiences and integration into the airline.

The visit extended across Royal Air Maroc’s operational ecosystem, including its headquarters, Flight Operations Department, Training Department and facilities, as well as simulator centres. The experience offered a comprehensive view of the airline’s operational environment and future requirements.

Although pilot recruitment remained a central focus of discussions, the agenda extended far beyond workforce numbers. Brookfield also provided strategic recommendations aimed at further enhancing the pilot experience and strengthening recruitment competitiveness.

Rather than focusing solely on immediate hiring needs, the discussions reflected a broader philosophy: building systems that support sustainable workforce growth.

One of the strongest themes to emerge from the visit was the maturity of the relationship between Brookfield and Royal Air Maroc.

Both organisations acknowledged that trust, transparency, and communication have become central pillars of their collaboration. Royal Air Maroc expressed strong appreciation for Brookfield’s contribution, particularly regarding both the volume and quality of pilots introduced to the airline. The consistency of delivery has played an important role in supporting operational requirements during a period when pilot recruitment remains a strategic challenge across the global aviation industry.

Feedback during discussions also highlighted several areas where Brookfield has distinguished itself as a recruitment partner:

  • Brookfield has consistently delivered both a strong volume of candidates and a high standard of quality.

  • Communication has been highly responsive and consistent, often extending beyond traditional working hours and conducted primarily in French, a factor considered particularly valuable by the airline.

  • Brookfield has demonstrated a proactive, solution-oriented approach, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness regardless of operational challenges.

  • The company remains committed to working with both airlines and pilots professionally, transparently, and in full compliance with industry standards, ensuring integrity across every stage of the process.

Concluding remarks

The visit concluded with a clear consensus from both organisations: the partnership will continue to deepen and evolve. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration, identifying solutions proactively when challenges arise, and maintaining the high level of communication that has contributed to the partnership's success.

In an industry where operational pressures continue to increase and access to experienced talent remains critical, relationships like these increasingly become strategic assets rather than transactional arrangements.

The Royal Air Maroc visit ultimately served as more than a routine business trip. It represented a reminder that behind every successful operation are partnerships built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared ambition for long-term success.
