Aviation recruitment is often viewed through the lens of numbers and placements, but at its core, it is about people. In aviation recruitment, success is often measured by numbers, placements completed, contracts secured, and clients retained. But for Carlos, the heart of the business has always been people.

After nearly eight years with Brookfield Aviation International, Carlos has built a career around relationships, trust, and supporting the global aviation industry through one of its most critical resources: talent.

“I’ll turn eight years with Brookfield in September 2026,” he says with pride. “It’s been a journey of constant learning, meeting people from all over the world, and helping pilots and engineers find opportunities that can genuinely change their careers.”

Before entering aviation recruitment, Carlos worked in customer service and commercial roles, experiences that would later shape the way he approaches both clients and candidates today. While aviation can often appear highly technical from the outside, Carlos believes the industry ultimately runs on communication and human connection.

“That background helped me understand how to manage relationships, listen to people, and solve problems,” he explains. “Recruitment is not only about finding pilots. It’s about understanding what airlines need and supporting professionals through important career decisions.”

Today, Carlos plays a multifaceted role within Brookfield. His responsibilities range from sourcing new business opportunities and generating leads to recruiting pilots and managing long-term airline partnerships. It is a role that demands adaptability, market awareness, and the ability to work across different cultures and operational environments.

His work has also placed him at the centre of some of the industry’s most recognised aviation businesses. Among the highlights of his time at Brookfield, Carlos points to collaborations with DHL and Avianca, as well as developing and managing his own portfolio of international clients.

“Working with major airlines and operators is incredibly rewarding,” he says. “These are businesses that play a very important role globally. Supporting their operations by helping them secure qualified pilots gives real meaning to the work.”

That sense of purpose is something Carlos returns to frequently throughout the conversation. While aviation recruitment can be fast-paced and highly competitive, he believes the most rewarding moments are often deeply personal.

“The best feeling is when you successfully help someone get hired and they genuinely appreciate your support,” he reflects. “You remember those moments because for that pilot, it’s not just a job. It can be a new country, a better opportunity, or a major step forward for their family and future.”

It is this human dimension that continues to motivate him nearly a decade into his career. Carlos also credits Brookfield’s culture and leadership for the company’s long-standing position within the aviation recruitment sector. In an industry where credibility and network strength are essential, he believes professionalism remains the company’s defining advantage.

“What makes Brookfield stand out is the professionalism and expertise of the staff,” he says. “The aviation industry is very specialised, and clients want to work with people who understand the market and can deliver reliable solutions.”

As aviation continues to evolve, recruitment itself is changing alongside it. Digitalisation, AI-driven sourcing, data analytics, and automated recruitment platforms are beginning to reshape how airlines identify and secure talent. Carlos sees technology playing an increasingly important role in the future of aviation hiring, though he believes the human side of recruitment will always remain essential.

“The future will be very dependent on technology,” he says. “We are already seeing changes in how recruitment works, and it will continue to evolve. Let’s see what comes next.”

Still, despite all the technological transformation ahead, Carlos believes aviation recruitment will always remain fundamentally relationship driven. Airlines may rely on systems and algorithms, but trust, communication, and experience continue to matter when building teams responsible for operating complex global fleets.

Looking ahead, his ambitions remain closely aligned with Brookfield’s continued growth. “I want to continue generating new leads, supporting our clients, and helping pilots find opportunities,” he says. “That feeling of helping someone build their career never gets old.”

After nearly eight years at Brookfield Aviation, Carlos represents something increasingly valuable in today’s fast-moving aviation industry: consistency, experience, and a genuine passion for connecting people with opportunity.
