The Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX), which is being held in Hamburg next week, recently published their findings of a survey they conducted. They found that high-net-worth individuals are eager to embrace the joys of flying in eVTOL aircraft, but only if they have sufficiently well-appointed cabins.
Around 250 senior business executives with annual incomes of more than £250,000 ($329,000) in the UAE, which is a likely early adopter of eVTOL air taxi services, were surveyed by the AIX. The findings revealed were interesting.
96.4% of those surveyed told said they are looking forward and willing to adapt to a new mode of transportation (eVTOL), with 52.4% emphasising their desire for convenience and accessibility, 49.6% attracted by what they view as a novel and exciting travel experience, and 47.6% were interested in eVTOL due to its ability to reduce burden on the environment.

The survey also reported that people expressed their wishes for cabin design to be influenced by local cultural sensibilities. Almost 98% said they will expect bespoke interiors, with a high degree of choice over cabin colors, lighting, and “tailored” entertainment options for flights that aren’t expected to take more than 20 minutes.
Half of the people surveyed mentioned that eVTOL manufacturers should cater to providing flexible family seating configurations. However, it is interesting to note that only some of the new eVTOL models have more than 4 passenger seats, so eVTOL manufactures and operators must ensure that their marketing is not aimed at carrying large families.
It is also interesting to note that 83% of the people surveyed claimed that they find the interiors of the present-day business jet somewhat outdated and eVTOLs should aim for designs that are truly innovative.
