John Travolta marked his 72nd birthday by earning a new Global Express second-in-command (SIC) licence, adding another qualification to his long list of aircraft ratings.

John Travolta, the Hollywood actor and well-known aviation enthusiast, recently added another licence to his already extensive list of aircraft qualifications on his 72nd birthday.

He shared a video on his social media in which he can be seen sitting in the cockpit of a Bombardier Global Express business jet.

“I just completed my licence in the Global Express SIC.” Travolta said in the video while showing viewers the aircraft. "So, this is the Global Express. Take a look."

The camera then moved from the front of the aircraft through the cabin as Travolta celebrated his achievement in a light-hearted way.

“It’s my birthday today! And I’m very proud to say I got my license in the Global Express! Thank you for all my birthday wishes!,” the caption below the video stated.

The Bombardier Global Express is a large-cabin, ultra-long-range business jet designed and manufactured by Bombardier Aviation. The aircraft is primarily used for long-distance executive travel and has an estimated range of approximately 7,900 nautical miles.

Travolta has been passionate about aviation for decades. He earned his pilot’s licence at the age of 22 and has continued to expand his aviation qualifications ever since.

Over the years he has become qualified to operate several aircraft types, including the Boeing 747, Boeing 707, and Boeing 737. His longstanding relationship with Qantas Airways also dates back to 2002, when he became an official ambassador for the airline.

Travolta has frequently shared videos of his flying experiences, including clips of him piloting his own aircraft.

His late wife, Kelly Preston, once remarked in 2018 that Travolta had flown across much of the world, including Russia, South Africa, Australia, Tahiti, the United Kingdom, the United States, and parts of the Far East.

For Travolta, aviation has remained more than just a hobby. It has become a lifelong passion that continues to grow even after decades in the skies.
