London Luton Airport has officially been recognised as one of the world’s top low-cost airline terminals, surpassing bigger London airports like Heathrow and Gatwick in Skytrax’s latest global rankings.
Luton secured the 10th spot in the “World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Terminals” category, earning praise for its efficiency, customer service, terminal design, and overall passenger experience. The Skytrax rankings are based on millions of traveller reviews and assessments across 575 airports globally.
This recognition follows a string of accolades for Luton, including being named “Best European Airport (10–25 million passengers)” by Airports Council International (ACI Europe), and “Best UK Airport” by Condé Nast Traveller readers in 2023.
Luton’s rise comes with big plans. The UK’s Secretary of State for Transport has approved a major expansion project that will increase the airport’s annual passenger capacity from 18 million to 32 million. The upgrade will include a new terminal, additional taxiways, and improved transport infrastructure to meet growing demand.
With this recognition and expansion on the horizon, London Luton Airport is solidifying its status as a major player in low-cost aviation, combining affordability with quality service and forward-thinking development.
