Father and Son Duo to Take Part in the Yukon 1000 to Raise Money for Hospices in Southern England

The Yukon 1000 is a paddle race on the last frontier, a thousand-mile endurance challenge beginning in Canada and finishing near the Arctic Circle. The race is not for everyone. It is a brutal endeavor, involving up to 18 hours paddling each day for nine consecutive days through unmapped channels, narrow streams, and vast stretches of remote wilderness. Competitors must brave extreme weather conditions, all while navigating one of the most isolated regions of grizzly and black bear territory in the world.

In this adventurous race, Sam Weber and his son Sonny, from the United Kingdom, will take part as a father-and-son team. Sam, often referred to as the “Sussex Adventurer” by Meridian TV, has undertaken multiple extreme challenges in support of charitable causes. Last spring, he rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in a 53-day, 3,000-mile challenge, raising funds for charity.

Now, Sam and Sonny are preparing for their next challenge, the Yukon 1000, recognised as the world’s longest endurance kayak race, covering 1,000 miles through the Canadian wilderness and crossing the border to the finish line in Alaska. The race is scheduled to take place in July 2026.

“The Yukon 1000 is particularly special to me as it’s being undertaken alongside my son, and it represents the continuation of a journey that began with earlier extreme expeditions, including the recent Atlantic row, Jungle Survival and Mountain Climbs.” said Sam.

Given Sam’s history of raising funds for charitable causes, Brookfield Aviation International has chosen to sponsor Sam and his son Sonny as they take on this remarkable challenge.

The team, competing under the name Two Generations Strong, will use the funds raised through the event to support hospices in Southern England, including:

  • Chestnut Tree House Hospice, Arundel

  • St Barnabas House Hospice, Worthing

  • St Wilfrid’s Hospice, Chichester

  • Martlets Hospice, Hove

Support this extraordinary challenge by making a donation today and help provide essential care for families across Southern England. Every contribution makes a tangible difference.
