Brookfield Aviation’s Brookie Writing Competition is building strong engagement across the UK, inspiring young pupils to explore aviation through creativity and storytelling.

The Brookie Writing Competition continues to gain momentum across the United Kingdom, with strong engagement from schools, teachers, parents, and pupils nationwide.

Brookfield Aviation teams are actively visiting schools across the UK, presenting the competition directly to students and educators. These sessions bring the initiative to life, encouraging pupils aged 9 to 11 to engage with aviation through storytelling, creativity, and imagination.

The competition invites young writers to create a short story, poem, jingle, or song centred around Brookfield Aviation’s mascot, Brookie. The response has been enthusiastic, with schools embracing the opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom and connect creativity with real-world industry exposure.

Educators are using the competition as a tool to inspire imaginative thinking while introducing students to the world of aviation at an early stage. This direct engagement is helping to spark curiosity and build awareness of future career pathways within the industry.

As Todd Skaggs, Marketing and Sales Director at Brookfield Aviation International, explains, “At Brookfield Aviation, we believe that early engagement plays a critical role in shaping the next generation of aviation professionals. By combining creativity with industry insight, the competition offers pupils a unique opportunity to explore aviation in a meaningful and accessible way.”

The prize offering continues to generate strong interest. Winning students will experience a full aviation immersion day at London Oxford Airport, including a light aircraft flight, simulator session, air traffic control tower visit, and behind-the-scenes access to real aviation operations. Alongside this, £500 will be awarded to each winning school to support further educational development and opportunities.

As submissions continue to grow, the competition is quickly becoming a platform for young voices across the UK to express creativity while connecting with aviation in a new and engaging way.

Brookfield Aviation extends its thanks to all participating schools, educators, parents, and students for their continued enthusiasm and support. The team looks forward to discovering the many creative interpretations of Brookie and celebrating the talent emerging from classrooms across the country.
