Brookfield Education and Training, part of Brookfield Aviation International, has launched a new national creative writing competition designed to inspire the next generation of aviation professionals while encouraging creativity among primary school children across the UK.

The competition, titled “Brookie’s Aviation Adventures,” invites UK children aged 9–11 to create an original piece of writing about Brookie, the Brookfield Aviation mascot who is half-captain and half-aeroplane. Through storytelling, poetry, song lyrics or other creative writing, participants are encouraged to imagine where Brookie might travel and what adventures he could experience in the world of aviation.

The initiative forms part of Brookfield’s wider commitment to introducing young people to aviation through The British Aviation Experience, a programme run by Brookfield Education and Training, which gives students the opportunity to explore the wide range of careers available within the aviation sector.

Encouraging Creativity and Curiosity

Brookie’s adventures are designed to spark imagination while introducing young people to the possibilities of aviation.

Children entering the competition might imagine Brookie flying across continents, helping passengers reach important destinations, discovering new technologies that could transform aviation, or exploring how aircraft of the future might operate. The only limit is the imagination of the young writers taking part.

Selected entries will be published online in a special feature entitled “Brookie’s Aviation Adventures,” giving children the opportunity to see their work recognised and shared with a wider audience.

A Unique Aviation Prize

Three winners will be selected by a judging panel appointed by Brookfield Education and Training.

Each winner will be invited, together with a parent or guardian, to enjoy a full day’s aviation experience, which includes:

  • A flight in a light aircraft

  • Visits to an aircraft facility

  • A tour of an air traffic control tower and airport fire station

  • An aeroplane simulator session

  • Presentation of a winner’s trophy

Meals and transport will be provided as part of the experience day.

All activities will be fully supervised, and all instructors involved will be DBS checked.

In addition to the aviation experience, £500 will be donated to the school fund of each winning entrant, helping schools support further educational activities.

Selected authors whose work is published will also receive a National Book Token.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Aviation Professionals

Brookfield Aviation International has been supplying pilots and engineers to airlines worldwide since 1993. Through initiatives such as this competition and the British Aviation Experience programme, the company aims to encourage young people to explore careers in aviation, engineering, and aerospace.

By combining creativity with real-world aviation experiences, the competition offers young students a chance not only to develop their storytelling skills but also to discover the exciting possibilities that exist within the aviation industry.

How to Enter

Entries must be submitted via the official competition page at:

The closing date for entries is 1 June 2026, with winners being notified by 30 June 2026.
