Brookfield Sponsors Young Aviators

Flying Experiences for Amputee and Disabled Children

Brookfield Aviation are very proud to support The Douglas Bader Foundation, which helps and supports both children and adults who are affected by any form of limb loss, congenital or otherwise or who are affected by any other similar disability, so it was a special privilege to be invited to the “Bader Braves” flying day at White Waltham in July.

Bader Braves supports children with limb loss and other physical disabilities by offering unique experiences and improving life-skills to increase confidence. The Young Aviator Flying Days give these disadvantaged children, along with their brothers and sisters, the wonderful experience of flight in a light aircraft. While there are so many activities that disabled children are not able to participate in, the opportunity for

these kids to look down on the world from the vantage point of a light aircraft is of immense psychological significance.

The day was sunny and joyous, with around 25 children participating, taking to the air and spending time together and with their families around the airfield. “This was an amazing opportunity that our children would not have been able to experience if it were not for the Douglas Bader Foundation” said the mother of one brave young man. CEO of Brookfield, David George, said: “ It’s a real pleasure to be involved with a wonderful charity like this. The experience is inspiring, not only for the children involved, but for all of us who have been lucky enough to be here today”

We would like to encourage all of our readers – particularly those who make a living from aviation, or with a love of it – to support the Douglas Bader Foundation and help more disabled children to ‘Reach for the Sky’. Please see the website: www.douglasbaderfoundation.com
